    The Story Behind the Shot

When taking photos of my sweet brother, his lovely wife, and his precious daughter, I got to do my favorite prompt with them. I told my brother and my sister-in-law to start kissing my sweet niece’s cheeks until I said stop, and the outcome was these sweet photos! I also enjoy using this with couples, as it’s always fun to get a laughing shot. The same goes for me telling the boy to whisper something in the girl’s ear, always resulting in some funny reactions.

For me, these warm colors are sun-drenched in nostalgia with a beach feeling. I pulled these specific tones from a recent shoot to show the ‘soul’ of the session. It’s more than just a photo; it’s a specific atmosphere.

I used my eye to simply sample these colors from one of my favorite frames of this engagement shoot. As a designer, I don’t just take pictures—I build visual worlds. This palette is the foundation for the ‘look’ I’m currently obsessing over.

This shoot was done in a sweet, secluded area of Greenville, where a bridge and stream met on a beautiful piece of green. In the spring, the pink flowers bloom, adding more color to the green grass and blue skies. It’s a quiet place is a busy city, where the sun and shade find a meeting to be together. This spot works so well for photos as it has sources of light with it being outdoors, but also has many trees and shaded areas for better photos if the sun is too harsh, not to mention the open area good for picnics and play.
